Shade trees serve as a natural canopy, enriching the soil with organic matter. In the case of leguminous trees, they also play a vital role in nitrogen fixation, contributing significantly to soil fertility.

 

The natural canopy provides protection against extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night. While the root system aids in erosion control, the canopy limits water loss from coffee plants. When shade trees are chosen and maintained correctly, they can help alleviate stress caused by drought.

 

By maintaining higher biodiversity in coffee-growing regions, there are potential advantages in terms of yield due to more diverse pollinator species and pest management, as well as the presence of other predator species.

 

Shade trees can suppress weed growth while also mitigating the impact of severe weather events like storms and frost.

Healthy coffee plants flourish in their own suitable ecosystem, carefully nurtured in the shade of the forest canopy. Only the ripest coffee cherries are selectively handpicked with great precision.

This natural, slow-paced farming method infuses the coffee with rich nutrients, resulting in a uniquely flavorful product. FiRo continues to establish standardized processing procedures to preserve all the inherent flavor potentials:

+ All of FiRo’s coffee undergoes washed processing – a costly procedure that requires substantial investment. This enables FiRo to produce large quantities of top-quality and consistent coffee products.


+ FiRo actively ferments our coffee with our own strains to maximize its flavor potential. The drying process is carried out under strict control using modern drying equipment. FiRo understands that the coffee’s flavor profile is delicate. Hence, excellent control can unlock the accumulated flavors within the beans.


+ FiRo’s products are certified as specialty coffee by the CQI, scoring above 80 points. FiRo’s experts have built a reputation to be proud of, not only for FiRo’s coffee but also for Vietnamese coffee in general.
